Open Access Week

October 23 - 29, 2023 | Everywhere

  • In 2009, Open Access Week was the platform for the student Right to Research Coalition to announce that it had expanded to represent over 5 million students worldwide, with the commitments of the Canadian Federation of Students, the U.S. Students’ Association, and The International Association for Political Science Students.

JOIN the coalition. Individual students, student governments, and student organizations are invited to sign The Student Statement on the Right to Research, which calls on governments, research funders, campus administrators, faculty, and other students to take action in support of Open Access. Learn more at http://www.righttoresearch.org

The Coalition Web site is full of resources to help students ADVOCATE nationally and locally and to EDUCATE others on the benefits of Open Access. Check out our resources page for tools you can use to spread the word and act during OAWeek 2010.

Coalition Director Nick Shockey is a member of Open Access Week -- friend him now.

  • Students are also researchers. Consider how adopting Open Access as author and investigator can help enhance your work. See Researchers, above, to learn more.
  • SHOW your support. Wear an open-access t-shirt or share why you support broader access to research, like grad student Andre Brown did in this video (http://www.vimeo.com/1899429).
