Two events will be hosted by The University of Auckland Library for the University of Auckland staff. The first event is a seminar presented by Associate Professor Alex Holcombe from the University of Sydney. He will outline the issues around scholarly publishing and the growth of the open access movement. Alex’ talk is entitled Our Scholarship System is Broken. Can Open Access Fix It?

A second event, which is a workshop for Subject Librarians of The University of Auckland Library, will be held in which Professor Holcombe and key members of the community will also be involved. The workshop aims to raise awareness of open access issues and how librarians can assist researchers and the academic community to help raise awareness about open access.
