Event Description

Jon Newbury (IHR)

This talk will consider the importance of open access within the humanities and institutional attempts to embrace or anticipate changing behaviours and needs, specifically towards books. Publishing Manager Jon Newbury will introduce the IHR/IALS-led open access ebooks project, programmes and upcoming online resource with key themes of partnership and community outreach. The discussion will centre around the opportunities and challenges, both for publishers and within institutions such as SAS, and consider ways to engage with the wider community on the subject of open access.

The Social Scholar is a series of lunchtime seminars from the School of Advanced Study, looking into the theme of the 'social' aspect of research, including social media, public engagement, and digital humanities. Each session includes a 20 minute presentation from an expert followed by discussion and Q&A.
