Event Description

UNCW Randall Library is pleased to sponsor a free luncheon and panel discussion for UNCW faculty members, administrators, and graduate students.

Panelists are Will Cross, Director, Copyright and Digital Scholarship, North Carolina State University Libraries; Russ Herman, UNCW Professor of Mathematics & Statistics and Physics & Physical Oceanography and Editor of Journal of Effective Teaching (JET); and Haley Walton, Outreach Coordinator for Open Access, Duke University Libraries. Peter Fritzler, UNCW Sciences Librarian, will be the moderator.

In addition to other Open Access news, at the October 19th event, faculty and graduate students will hear updates on the 2013 Executive Directive on Public Access issued by the White House. The Directive requires the results of taxpayer-funded research – both articles and data – be made freely available to the general public with the goal of accelerating scientific discovery and fueling innovation. OER (Open Educational Resources) will also be addressed.
