Open Access Week

October 23 - 29, 2023 | Everywhere

I think that cartoons (such as Nina Paley) and similar material can be very compelling in bringng home the message. Last week I was invited to talk on "Walled gardens" and with Tom Murray-Rust created "Animal Garden", a story of innocence, vanity, greed, betrayal and hope as a series of photo-slides with toy animals. As a PPT at 15 sec intervals it lasts about 6 minutes.

(20 Mb, will try to reduce later).

It was well received at the Serpentine gallery ( http://blogs.ch.cam.ac.uk/pmr/2011/10/16/garden-marathon-at-serpent... which includes Gulliver turtle (BMC) as a star) and I have had good feedback since and am planning to make the animals part of some of my blog posts (see other contemporaneous posts).

I think the OA movement needs a mascot like Linux has Tux - it's a very useful way of getting known. Gulliver is useful but he is specifically BMC
