Event Description

UCT Libraries' Digital Library Services (DLS) is excited to host our 2nd OpenCon satellite event on 25 October 2017.

This is a blended event, taking place in both the physical space, as well as streamed online, so that it is open to everyone.

OpenCon satellite events are local meetings about Open Access, Open Data, and Open Education (the free availability of scholarly articles, data, and educational resources online). Satellite events are held in partnership with the global annual OpenCon meeting, which will be held in Berlin between 11-13 November, 2017.

OpenCon2017 Cape Town will bring together students, researchers, and members of the public, who are interested in learning more about accessibility of information in research and education. The schedule includes talks by local speakers, as well as video content recorded from the global OpenCon meeting.

As a part of international Open Access Week (23-29 October 2017), OpenCon2017 Cape Town will take place in conjunction with two additional events being hosted by UCT Digital Library Services: The Official Launch of the UCT Data Repository on 24 October, and an OpenCon2017 Cape Town Data Drop-in session on 27 October.
